I have my first ever MRI tomorrow. It’s at 1 o’clock and my dad and his nurse, Judith, are coming down to Miami to go to it with me. I got a referral for it from after I told my doc that I’ve had 4 or 5 migraines since January (it had been over 10 years since I had my first at age 12), in addition to the fact that my mother – who also had migraines – died from a massive hemorrhagic stroke 4 years ago. When she asked if we had ever found out why my mom had the stroke I told her they couldn’t pin it on anything in particular; besides the fact that she was a smoker, she wasn’t overweight and was quite active (having to retain the roles of both parents, as my dad has MS and can’t function or participate normally). I thought my mom probably had high blood pressure, but she had never been diagnosed and wasn’t taking medication for it. I am, however, pretty certain that she was hypertensive. Also, thyroid problems run in our family as well as “borderline” diabetes. Anyways, that’s why my doc said I might as well go get a brain scan just to be sure I don’t have anything going on “up there”.
The one thing on my mind right now is that I’m hoping I’m not clostrophobic. Really, I don’t think I am – this should be a breeze — but I’ve heard stories about people who’ve never had an MRI and get in there and freak out. Whatever, I’ll just bring in some music and relax for a about 30-40 minutes in “the tunnel” (I’ve heard its like laying in a tanning booth). Then afterward, I can take my dad and Judith out to dinner and then we can go to a movie!! That’d make my day.
Other things in the happening life of MOI: My red nail polish (applied just 2 days ago) hasn’t chipped yet 
Case in point, my Nail Depot manicure started chipping day 1.5 – not such a good use of $48 (plus tip), huh? Also, gotta plan more of my friends bridal shower that’s coming up next week (s’posed to get RSVPs tomorrow, just put in the cake order this afternoon).
